What does an unsigned band and Firefox have in common?

Unsigned band make chart history
Essex rock band Koopa have made chart history by becoming the first unsigned band to land a UK top 40 hit

Koopa

Singer and bassist Joe Murphy told the BBC News website it was all down to their manager and “awesome” fans.

“Without them we would not have done it,” he said.

Koopa didn’t have a record distribution “deal” & Firefox didn’t have a desktop distribution “deal” either.

Isn’t it delightfully disruptive when the power to distribute gets into the hands of “awesome” fans ;)

  1. What an accomplishment. This is the way things are going and those who don’t realize it, the big record labels and the Microsofts of the world, need to wake up or become irrelevant.
